jeremy thomas' pieces sort of remind me of deflating bubble gum bubbles. well, if gum was steel that had been welded together, heated to 2800F and injected with pressurized air; those kinds of deflated bubble gum bubbles.
i sort of can't help it that i always use this metaphor, but i want to eat these sculptures. in addition to wanting to eat anything non-edible that has nice color, i also think just about everything agreeable is 'cute' or 'fun.' so if i say something about you is 'cute' and you happen to be a dude - don't take it personally, it's just how i am.
ok, back to thomas...
Suk-Up Blue, 2008
Buffalo Yellow, 2008
Steiger Panther Pink, 2008
i think that if b was going to be an artist - which he has been talking a lot about with all the b.s. he's been putting up with at school - i think he might do very similar things.
images found on artnet. not much more on thomas' site.

wisdom from vonnegut
reading slaughterhouse five right now...
and the prayer hanging in billy pilgim's optometrist office really resonated with me:
grant me the serenity
to accept the things i cannot change,
the courage
to change the things that i can,
and the wisdom
to always tell the difference.
sometimes it's just that simple.

gotta get these gourds...
i have to get my hands on these:
i ordered two; 2 for $20 - you can't beat that with a stick. they are hand cast solid resin sculptures from robert aiosa.
aiosa lives and works in the city of brotherly love (as his site states). i had the pleasure of knowing him while he was in seattle a couple of years ago. the guy is MULTI-talented. besides these gourds that are so yummy i want to eat them, he's been working on furniture and site-specific architectural installations, among other things. check him out. it's good stuff.
Washington Square, Philly - 2008 - Private Residence - American Black Walnut, Claro Walnut, Osage, Spalted Maple, Curly Maple, White Oak, Bubinga, Jatoba, African Mahogany, Locust, Sycamore, Poplar

shoe lust
i was doing really well suppressing all of my spending desires. but i have a weakness, a SERIOUS weakness. things to put on my feet...whether they be badass argyle socks, ballet flats, boots, or tennis shoes...they make my mouth water with shear glee. i could wear designer jeans and a black t-shirt (i sort of already do) everyday...but shoes...dang. this weekend i saw the following and started to really wish i had a sugar daddy (*ahem*) or that my birthday was approaching...or another holiday...(*ahem*)...
...
i mean, come one, brown, creme and yellow. so good it's stupid.
i can barely speak when i look at these. *gulp*

abc's: kid vs. adult
the letters that the adult makes are nice and all but all i could do was stare at the kid as he was writing his letters...makes me want to find one of those big fat calligraphy brushes and calligraphize my entire bathroom.
i also feel the desire to eat those big fat lines the kid makes with the brush. wait, is that weird?
